Animal gallery
Tina-Renae’s animals are painted with a mix of research, reference and intuition. The resulting creations are mesmerizing and colourful, showing the true essence of the animal’s character.
Un moment – lynx et papillon apollo
A meeting between a young Lynx and an Apollo butterfly in the magical landscape of the French Alps.
To capture this moment, I used a photo of a Lynx and a photo of the butterfly and recreated the magic of nature around them using abstract.
The result is a calming yet inspiring picture of a chance moment of curiosity from the lynx and the trust from the butterfly.

Mr Météo
(Mr weather)
This is ‘Mr Météo, a portrait of a kookaburra, one of my favourite Australian birds. Legend says they can tell the weather, science says their laugh is just territorial. So I listened and made theories, matched weather patterns over a few years and it turns out legend is true. See the full article here

Bouquetin
The Bouquetin (Alpine ibex) the majestic mountain goat of the French alps.
I grew up around goats, so, when I saw this Bouquetin with all it’s relaxed mojo, it reminded me of the goat resilience and the ability to climb up vertical slopes. All these memories and knowledge about the different characters goats have, allowed the background to form and the portrait to capture the typical nonchalant attitude of the goat.

Bubo Bubo
Bubo bubo is the Eurasian Eagle-Owl, a wise owl with strong eyes and a stern character. He is a powerful predator and one of the largest owls in the world. It is currently protected and the numbers are recovering through breeding programs.
I wanted to show the beauty, wisdom and strength that this bird has, using my intuitive abstract style.

Petit Loup
(Little wolf)
This little wolf was created in demonstration over the last week of my 2023 Saint Gervais Les Bains exhibition. Some tourists helped create the background, by telling me their favourite colours and through the process, some even got to blow some paint around! It was started on the blue moon, so that influence went in. Another person showed a card with balls on it, so in went the balls. After all the main elements were in, the detail came. The end result is a truly energetic painting that just makes you want to howl to the full moon too!

Chocard
The Alpine chough
After researching this relative of the crow that lives in the French Alps, I decided their cool character needed to be highlighted. The middle being empty is representative of their tendency to act as hungry as seagulls.

La grande roue
(The big wheel)
The aim was to create a tailored painting that resonated and helped heal, using the intuitive sub-conscious language for those that are feeling overwhelmed by the ‘wheel of life.’ The endangered Grand hamster (Cricetus cricetus) appeared into the picture, unplanned, but matching beautifully with the energy of the painting. The Grand Hamster created a figurative, yet subliminal link to hamster wheels and the association that has with how some people feel they are running through life in the current system.
When this painting has been publicly displayed, I asked the people that were drawn to it, ‘what they felt?’ I discovered that they all had a similar mindset of becoming overwhelmed with events, particularly events that upset the heart. They felt the painting resonated and comforted them.

The marmotte poppy
Both subjects have strong symbolism. The Poppy symbol is used in remembrance for the sacrifice of war, it also contains a message of hope for a peaceful world. The Marmotte or ‘Groundhog’ message is to learn the lessons so you don’t make the same mistakes and speaking your truth.

Coconut squid
After finding out about these cool squids that make houses out of coconut shells, I painted this. It is the beginning of a story.

Splatter blue wren
Watching the subtleties in animal’s behavior helps you to understand their language. Sometimes their behavior is not subtle at all, such is how I remember these cute birds from Australia. Only the males have the blue colours.
